Your current reality is the result of who you were

People walking and gathering in a sunlit park, reflecting how your current reality is shaped by the people, choices, and experiences in your life.

I have both good news and bad news. The good news is that, if your current reality is not as you expect it to be, you can change that.

If your current reality is not as you want it to be and you’re living in poverty, surrounded by the wrong people, with no opportunities to grow or fix your life, you can change all of that.

The bad news is that it takes time and how much time it takes varies from one person to another.

For example, let’s say that you are 30 years old and you’ve been a shitty friend for many years. After you finished college, you met some people, spent time with them, and that changed you into a rude and selfish person.

Because of that, you ended up having no friends whatsoever and it frustrates you.

How long will it be until you are surrounded again by decent people? It depends.

You’ll have to understand the things you did wrong in all these years (and that takes time) so you won’t repeat them. Then you’ll have to redefine relationships and understand the kinds of people you want to spend time with. After that, you’ll have to figure out where you can meet these people. And so on.

It’s a process and this process requires a few things.

As you probably already understood, this process requires you to have a new understanding. You have to understand things in a different way compared to how you used to understand them.

That understanding is required so you can repent. You’ll have to feel sincere guilt and sorrow for your past actions and thoughts. You’ll need that so you can move on to the next step, which is also the most important one.

Through repentance, you change your energy and that takes time.

The needed delay to change your current reality

You may have a really shitty life and just realized that it is entirely your responsibility to change it.

If you set yourself, at this moment, that you want to change your current reality, the distance between the present moment and the manifested change is what I call the delay.

You know what you want and how you want your life to look like. But to get there, you’ll have to do all the things that I mentioned earlier.

But even if you do them, it’s not certain how long the delay lasts.

You may have been through such a change for the past two years and still have a shitty life.

From my experience, that’s because energy doesn’t change overnight, especially if you’ve lived in states such as shame, guilt, apathy, or fear for many years. You’re so used to the energy connected to these states and that makes it difficult to change your energy.

But worry not – it will happen!

The challenge when you want to change your life

As Joe Dispenza says, to change your life means to change your energy.

People struggle with doing that because the energy they’re trying to change is connected to deeply rooted behaviors and, as soon as you lose your focus, these old behaviors will activate themselves over and over again.

From my point of view, that’s not the deepest challenge.

For example, if I can change a behavior today and the change is permanent, then that’s perfect. But that doesn’t happen.

The challenge is to keep going even though you know you may fail. The challenge is to stay focused on what you want to change, even though you haven’t been able to maintain the new habit for more than 2 days in a row.

When you are your worst enemy and you’re losing a battle against yourself, it can destroy your will to change. The longer you try and keep failing, the more you endorse a behavior that will keep you stuck in losing that battle.

If you are in such a situation, I recommend you find some support.

Ask a friend to listen to what you’re going through and encourage you. Find someone who’s going through the same thing and support each other. Look for support groups (both online and in your city) and join a community where the focus is on growing and overcoming your challenges.

Life is a lot easier when we have the right people with us.

Remember to live your life while you change your life

Only if you knew the things I’ve been through in my life… Both in the past 1-2 years, but also when I was younger.

For me, life has been a constant challenge and, while I’ve improved a lot, there are still things that I want to change.

But that’s not the point.

Don’t be obsessed with changing your current reality, but learn to accept the misfortunes of your life. None of us is perfect and accepting that will give you peace of mind.

Don’t get stuck in the idea that you have to change everything. Things will never be perfect. And instead of chasing perfection and being focused on the perfect future, accept life the way it is, improve it without suffocating yourself, and remember to live.

Life happens for you, through you, with or without your involvement.

With love and optimism,
