This weekend I wrote a newsletter about the reason why people can’t become more optimistic and stay stuck in a pessimistic mindset. It comes down to the energy behind optimism and the daily actions connected to that energy.
Here’s a small sample of what I wrote in that newsletter:
Join the newsletter and get your optimistic insights every Tuesday.
Going back to the insight shared in this week’s newsletter, I wanted to give some examples of the things that influence my daily energy, but the newsletter wasn’t the right place to do it. Therefore, here we are.
Energy, spirituality, and how I discover all these
I started reading about being present and living in the present moment back in 2018-2019 (if I remember correctly) when a friend told me about the book Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender by David R Hawkins.
And even though that’s an amazing book, back then it didn’t stick with me.
But in 2021 I discovered the books of Eckhart Tolle (The Power of Now and A New Earth) and they helped me understand a bit better what the ego is and how to stay present. I’d also like to add the book Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl to that list just because it helped me connect emotionally to the whole concept of being present.
For sure, there are more books that I would like to mention, but I started consuming a different kind of content that added a new layer to what I was reading: the layer of energy.
I’m a big fan of Instagram Reels and I think I spend at least 15 minutes every day there. It all started with some random reels about energy.
I remember that one of the first reels I watched was saying that everything is energy and since everything is energy, everything is already there; you just have to connect to that energy in order to have it.
I started watching these kinds of reels around the beginning of 2022 and, thanks to the way the Instagram algorithm is built, the more I watched, the more reels like these were suggested to me.
Eventually, at the beginning of 2023 I discovered Joe Dispenza and everything he shared about meditation, energy, and spirituality helped me change many things at the way I live my life.
The final and biggest point was watching his documentary, Rewired, this summer, and since then I started meditating in a different way; the way Joe Dispenza suggests meditation should happen.
That’s my discovery journey until now and while my fingers are itching me to also share with you some of the results I’ve had with spirituality, I have an article in mind about that and I’ll probably write and publish it by the end of this month. It will probably be the next article.
What’s the difference between positive and negative energy?
The difference is quite easy to spot. The difficult thing is to keep the positive daily energy active in your life.
Do you know that moment when you feel stressed or anxious? Can you remember the last moment you had an argument with your life partner or with your boss and you felt anger?
That’s negative energy.
On the other side of the coin, you can experience positive energy when you feel grateful, joyful, or content.
Knowing the difference is that easy.
But because we don’t get to experience the positive energy too often, we forget how it feels and it’s becoming more and more difficult to manifest it. Not to mention keeping it active after we manifest it.
You can do it through meditation and Joe Dispenza explains it a bit in the documentary Rewired. I also plan to explain it in depth, in a video that I plan to add to the membership, next year.
The more you meditate, the easier it will be to create positive energy in your life, in the moments you feel the negative energy is taking over.

4 things that influence my daily energy
There are things in my life that can make me sad when I’m happy or vice-versa. Heck, there are even more things outside my life that have this kind of influence over me.
And I decided to list some of them for two reasons:
- I am more aware of all these things that influence my daily energy;
- Maybe you can become aware of new things that influence your daily energy.
I believe this is the main source of influence when it comes to how I feel.
For example, last week I went to an event and I meet there two amazing people. They were energetic and knowledgeable, approachable and open-minded, and being there with them made me feel grateful for being at that event.
But, at the same time, I get to meet people who are mean and rude and I hate it. It makes me feel sad and depressed and I need to go back to my cave, isolate myself, and rebalance my state of mind. This kind of people suck all the energy out of me and I had my fair share of them.
Since these kinds of people may still come into my life in the future, even for a few minutes, being aware of their influence on my daily energy will help me pay attention to what is happening and so create the positive energy I need.
2. The content I consume
At this moment, there are two types of content that are at opposite poles and I consume regularly.
The positive one is salsa music. If you like salsa music, here’s a song I discovered recently that I’m obsessed with: https://youtube.com/watch?v=-v8AVIdcyoI. I played right after putting the link here and took a short break to enjoy it.
At the opposite pole is what is happening worldwide with the conflicts. Somewhere in this world, there are wars going on as you read this. Whenever I bump into another news about the wars, my daily energy shifts.
3. Career and personal development
After getting my coaching accreditation this year, it energized me and I became more focused on helping others. It made me think about other accreditations that I want to have as a means of becoming more knowledgeable in helping others.
At the opposite pole, I get to experience negative energy whenever the unknown is too big or when I meet people who are not willing to help.
For example, with the training and practice I currently have, I can apply for an EMCC EIA accreditation. If the uncertainty becomes too big, there’s a high chance that my energy will shift from excitement into helplessness.
There’s nothing here that can generate negative energy, except for not being able to act on my hobbies.
My current hobbies are salsa dancing (you’ve probably guessed it) and traveling.
This summer I did Camino de Santiago for the second time and it was a blessing. Such an amazing experience and it fueled me with positive energy.
For next year, I plan to travel to Japan for 3 weeks and having this in my sight gives me lots of positive energy. Not being able to do it, would change the balance.
Other things that influence my daily energy and final words
There is an endless list of things that influence my daily energy, such as food, thoughts, my neighbors, and lots of other things that are part of my environment and I may not be aware of.
While is important to know what changes your daily energy, being able to generate and maintain positive energy is more important. Therefore, focus on that.
Every night, before going to sleep, I meditate. I’ve been trying to do it every night for the last year but I had days or weeks when I didn’t. Skipping a few days or weeks won’t matter in the long run. What matters is the habit of meditating which is a long-term journey.
Therefore, focus every day on the positive energy that you can have and eventually you’ll see improvements in your life.
